Mehreen dressed in a room the colour of sea glass, with windows on two sides and a mirror older than anyone in the house. We asked for one hour before the baraat and spent most of it waiting for the sun to come round the corner. When it did, it stayed for eleven minutes.
“I had looked at so many photographers that every portfolio started to look the same. Then I saw a single frame from Shahana — a bride by a window, half in shadow — and I knew. Our album looks like a film we got to star in.”
